Peshastin Pipeline

Peshastin Pipeline

These projects update irrigation infrastructure to ensure fish screens are operable, provide fish passage, and/or improve water use efficiency.

Peshastin Pipeline

Approximately 9900 ft of Peshastin Irrigation District Canal was converted from an open canal to a closed pipeline. The construction of this pipeline will eliminate seepage in that reach. The upstream end of the proposed pipeline will tie into a pipeline constructed in 2005 by Peshastin Irrigation District. After the project completion, the downstream most 3 miles of canal was converted from open canal to pipeline. This project will save a conservatively estimated 1.2 cfs which is a significant amount during low flows that can go down to 3.5 cfs in late summer. This water savings will reduce diversions from Peshastin Creek and increase instream flow for fish passage.  This project will enhance fish passage in Peshastin Creek for Chinook salmon, steelhead and bull trout by reducing seepage in the irrigation canal and creating a water savings resulting in less diversion and increased instream flows.
