Cooling centers, or air-conditioned places where the public can visit to cool off, are available to people who don’t have air conditioning in their homes. In Wenatchee, the Town Toyota Center, 1300 Walla Walla Ave., is serving as a cooling center. It will be open during the ongoing heatwave for 24 hours a day beginning on Saturday, June 26.

Crunch Pak, one of the largest employers in Chelan County, recently contributed $150,000 to the construction of the new West Cashmere Bridge. Crunch Pak has been a proponent of the project, pledging its financial support as well as speaking to legislators about the importance of the project.

On March 9, the Boards of County Commissioners in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties finalized an agreement combining the Okanogan County Horticultural Pest & Disease Board with the joint Chelan-Douglas Horticultural Pest & Disease Board. The public is invited to pick up a free KN95 mask at one of several distribution spots around Chelan and Douglas counties. Made available by the Chelan County Department of Emergency Management, the KN95 respiratory masks feature multi-layer protection against fine particulate, including particulate related to smoke from wildfires.
