Flood Debris Disposal Program

Flood 2025 Clean-Up and Disposal Information

If you've experienced damage from the December windstorm and flooding, Chelan County Solid Waste is offering a flood disposal voucher program for households with blown-down trees and flood-related debris.

The program is free to all residents, regardless of whether they live in city limits or the unincorporated area. The program is for only people who suffered property damage from the Dec. 10-11 storms.

The voucher program is open through Saturday, Jan. 3. At that time, we will re-evaluate the program and determine if it needs additional days.

To start a flood disposal voucher, you must first fill out our form, providing your name, address and other details. When you are ready to dispose of your load, take the debris and the form to one of our two drop-off locations, where an attendant will review the debris load before accepting it into the free program.

Forms are available online here or at the drop-off locations.

Our priority is to support residents in safely managing debris during flood recovery. If a load does not qualify, then standard disposal fees will apply. The voucher is intended strictly for tree debris and flood-damaged household goods from the recent flooding and windstorm.

For questions, contact the Chelan County Solid Waste program at 509-667-6415.

Drop-Off Locations

Flood voucher debris will be accepted at either the Dryden Transfer Station, 9073 Hwy 2 near Dryden, or the Leavenworth Day Pit at East Leavenworth and Icicle roads.

Both facilities open to the voucher program on Dec. 23

Hours are:

  • Dryden Transfer Station: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (no loads accepted after 3:45 p.m.) Tuesday through Saturday.
  • Because of the holidays, the Dryden Transfer Station is closed at noon on Dec. 24, all day on Dec. 25, noon on Dec. 31 and all day on Jan. 1.
  • Leavenworth Day Pit: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 23, Dec. 26, Dec. 27, Dec. 29, Dec. 30 and Jan. 2-3.

Please follow these guidelines at each drop-off location:

Woody Debris

Dryden Transfer Station

  • The facility does not take brush or trees from the Apple Maggot Quarantine Zone, which includes most of Leavenworth, Plain and Lake Wenatchee.
  • You can determine if you live in the quarantine zone on the USDA's searchable, online map.
  • Limbs cannot be more than 6 feet long.

Leavenworth Day Pit

Flood-Damaged Debris

Dryden Transfer Station

  • Customers are not limited to the amount of flood-related debris that can be disposed of here.
  • If you have a trailer, it is best to use the transfer station because you can back up on the tipping floor and discard your material.
  • The Dryden Transfer Station also has a scrap metal yard.

Leavenworth Day Pit

  • This site is best suited for loads less than 2 cubic yards. If you have larger loads, use the Dryden Transfer Station. Don't know how large your load is? Use our Debris Estimator Chart.
  • If you anticipate having difficulties lifting materials into the roll-off (a large container with high sides), use the Dryden Transfer Station.
  • If you are disposing of water-damaged appliances, bring them to the Dryden Transfer Station’s metal yard.

Flood-damaged materials accepted at the Dryden Transfer Station and the day pit are:

  • Spoiled food
  • Water-damaged clothing, furniture and toys
  • Water-damaged appliances
  • Water-damaged flooring, insulation and wallboard
  • Tree debris

Materials NOT accepted are:

  • Rock or soil
  • Concrete
  • Demolition waste

Additional Tips

  • If you have household hazardous wastes, take those materials to the Chelan County Moderate Risk Waste Facility. If you are a business, call the facility at 509-667-5706. We can help small quantity generators set up an appointment to bring the material in.
  • A list of restoration contractors and junk haulers is available via PDF. The county does not endorse specific private businesses and asks that people do their own research before selecting a private business.
  • If you haven’t already, make sure to also fill out the 2025 Individual and Business Damage Assessment Form by Jan. 15.
