Comprehensive Plan Update
The Comprehensive Plan is Chelan County’s 20-year guiding document for managing growth and shaping the County’s future through 2046. It outlines the vision, goals and policies that will help us address critical issues, from housing and transportation to economic development and public services. This plan is a requirement under the state’s Growth Management Act, and the next review and update must be completed by June 30, 2026.
Chelan County is responsible for planning for all unincorporated parts of the county, including land within the urban growth areas. The City of Chelan will be participating in some parts of the County process, although each incorporated city in Chelan County (including Chelan, Wenatchee, Entiat, Cashmere and Leavenworth) is responsible for updating its own comprehensive plans.
In 2024, Chelan County also embarked on a new climate resiliency planning process to develop a Climate Resilience Element as part of the County’s Comprehensive Plan update. The planning process is the result of new state legislation. Learn more about the Chelan County Climate Resilience Element on our webpage.

April 2025 – Launch Comprehensive Plan Update and Community Survey
May 2025 – Community open houses in county commissioner Districts 1, 2 and 3. See our event flyers in English and Spanish.

5:30 p.m. on May 20 at Leavenworth Fire Hall, 228 Chumstick Highway in Leavenworth

October-November 2025 – Draft plan available, open house events and SEPA determination
February-March 2026 – Public hearing
June 2026 – Plan adoption
