Prescribed burn slated for this week
Chelan County Natural Resources, in coordination with the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department and the Washington Department of Natural Resources, plans to conduct a 62-acre prescribed burn on county-owned land adjacent to Upper Basin Loop and Pole Flats roads in the Stemilt Community Forest.
The prescribed burn, which enhances forest health and reduces wildfire risks, could begin as early as the week of Sept. 23. Safety is a top priority; the fire will be closely monitored by fire professionals. Temporary smoke is expected and will likely be visible from Wenatchee and the surrounding areas.
Prescribed burn coordinators will keep residents informed of potential road closures or air quality impacts via media outlets and the Chelan County Emergency Management Facebook page.
