Christmas tree recycling

Ready to take down that Christmas tree?

You’ve got a few options for recycling your tree here in the Wenatchee Valley:

Wenatchee Scout Troop 7 returns this year to help people recycle their trees. Drop-off dates are Jan. 1 and Jan. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The Scouts will be at Stemilt Organic Recycling Center in Wenatchee, 1885 S. Wenatchee Ave. (please note the new address). Drop-off is free. Residents can make a $5 donation to the troop.

The county’s Leavenworth brush drop-off site was scheduled to be re-opened one day for drop off. That event has been cancelled because of heavy snow. We will try to reschedule at a later date.

If you are a city of Chelan resident, you can drop your tree off at Don Morse Park (by the marina).

In Entiat, you can take your tree to the city compost pit, north of town, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7.

The brush drop-off sites at the Dryden and Chelan transfer stations are open winter hours. Typical fees apply. No brush from the apple maggot quarantine area is allowed at the DTS.

When dropping off your tree, please make sure it is free of all tinsel and decorations. No flocked trees are taken.
