Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison reports, on 5/30/25, just after 5:00pm a call was received for a search and rescue in Leavenworth, WA.
The reporting party advised they were climbing a route called, “Outer Space” at Snow Creek Wall in Leavenworth, WA and had fallen and broken his ankle.
The Mountain Rescue crew was contacted and were inserted at the top of, “Outer Space” by a Chelan County Sheriff’s Office helicopter unit. The rescue crew were able to make their way down to the injured male and were able to stabilize him and then lowered him another 800 feet down to a better location. The US Army assisted with a helicopter and hoisted the injured subject out and flew to Pangborn airport in East Wenatchee, where he was transported by Ballard Ambulance to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The rescue took approximately 9 hours to conduct. The teamwork from Chelan County Search and Rescue, Chelan County Emergency Management, the Mountain Rescue Team and the United States Army resulted in a successful mission.
