SUMMARY

Chelan County provides temporary housing to migrant workers while they assist with local agricultural needs during peak seasons. Under supervision of the Farm Worker Housing Manager, the Seasonal Assistant’s main function is to assist with the day-to-day operations of the migrant camp operated by Chelan County located at Wenatchee River Park only during the peak months of the season.

Overall responsibilities include supporting the Farm Worker Housing Manager with their duties of financial and administrative responsibility, regulatory compliance, maintenance & facility management, and other duties as assigned. This position requires someone who has attention to detail, excellent communication & organization skills, reliability, and adaptability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining safe, clean, and compliant living conditions for guests;
  • Assist with routine maintenance and repairs;
  • Assist with set up and take down of tents;
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with health & safety standards;
  • Help coordinate meetings and/or communication with outside vendors and the Farm Worker Housing Manager;
  • Utilize Microsoft Office software such as Excel and Word to maintain inventory of records such as guest registrations and turn away;
  • Answer phone inquiries;
  • Responsible for collecting rent from guests;
  • Provide basic support to guests by addressing minor concerns and directing major issues toward management;
  • Assist in enforcing existing rules and policies in place;
  • Ensure that housing facilities remain in compliance with the Department of Health and other regulations; 

HOURS/ DAYS/ SCHEDULE

Seasonal, Part-time, Saturday – Sunday 1pm – 9pm. Position available June 1st to November 30th

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be available on weekends;
  • Must be bilingual in Spanish;
  • Must be 21 years of age or older;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license;
  • Must have experience managing tenants;
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Must have basic computer skills;
  • Communication and organizational skills;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects;
  • Ability to work with people in a professional and respectful demeanor;
  • Preferred experience in basic maintenance repairs;
  • Preferred experience working with migrant workers or similar roles;
  • Preferred familiarity with agriculture housing needs and regulations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred experience working with migrant workers
  • Preferred management experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to proficiently communicate orally and in writing in both English and Spanish.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed in both an office environment and outdoors. Must have the ability to sit, stand, walk, and use computer frequently and occasionally for long periods of time. Must be able to move from sitting to standing quickly to assist customers; must be able to kneel, stoop, bend, twist, reach and grasp, use small ladders or stepstools, and operate standard office equipment; must have the ability to lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 25 pounds using proper lifting/carrying techniques. Must have sufficient vision to read printed materials and computer screen, and adequate hearing and speech to communicate clearly in person or over the telephone. Some physical labor involved with maintenance repairs and the set up and take down of the tents.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment will be both indoors and outdoors. Primarily on-site at Wenatchee River Park. Some physical labor involved.  Travel between buildings and to various organizations and locations outside of the main office may be necessary.
