Public Hearing: Updates to Fire Hazard Areas code
The Chelan County fire marshal is recommending updates to Chapter 7.52 of the Chelan County Code, also called the Fire Hazard Areas. Fire Marshal Chris Pedersen went through the current code, which defines restrictions during fire season, to simplify and clarify its language.
A public hearing on the proposed updates is at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, June 9, in the Board of County Commissioners chambers, 400 Douglas St. in Wenatchee.
To give your comments, come in person or join us via Zoom. People will have 3 minutes to speak. You can also present testimony in writing. Written comments are accepted now and up until the close of the public hearing. Mail them to the Fire Marshal’s Office.
Under the proposed updates, the June 1 ban on outdoor burning of yard debris remains in effect. In addition, fireworks will continue to be banned in Chelan County; fireworks are only allowed on Dec. 31.
