Homeless Housing Task Force seeks volunteer with lived experience of homelessness

The Chelan-Douglas Homeless Housing Task Force, which sets priorities for homeless housing services and funding in Chelan and Douglas counties, is looking for a community member who has experienced homelessness to serve as its Lived Experience Alternate Representative.

Applicants must live in Chelan or Douglas County and have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives, including people who are currently without stable housing. No special training or professional background is needed. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20.

“This is an opportunity to share your ideas and knowledge gained firsthand with the task force that guides funding decisions and implements our five-year homeless housing strategic plan,” said Jon Davies, Homeless Program supervisor at Chelan County.

The alternate representative attends task force meetings and votes in place of the Lived Experience Representative when that member is unable to attend. The appointment is a two-year term, from January 2027 through December 2028. This is a volunteer position.

The task force meets quarterly from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on a Wednesday, with occasional special meetings. The 2027 meeting schedule is set in December.

The application is available online and in paper form at 400 Douglas St., suite 201, in Wenatchee. Applicants are asked to share, in their own words, how their experience could help guide the task force and how they would speak up for others.

Completed applications can be emailed to Davies or dropped off or mailed to Chelan County, Attn: Jon Davies, 400 Douglas St., Suite 201, Wenatchee, WA 98801.

People who need help completing the application, or would like it in another format or language, can contact Davies at 509-667-6685. The application is also available in Spanish.

Interviews are planned for early December, and a recommendation will go to the full task force on Dec. 9. Final appointments are made by the Board of County Commissioners.

The Chelan-Douglas Homeless Housing Task Force, which includes local elected officials, agency representatives, a lived experience representative and other community stakeholders, guides the five-year homeless housing plan for Chelan and Douglas counties and allocates homeless housing grant dollars to local organizations.
