August 8 Open House: Wenatchee Heights Road Improvement Project
Chelan County Public Works will hold an open house on August 8 for people looking to learn more about the Wenatchee Heights Road Improvement Project. Construction on the project is planned for summer 2020.
The open house is 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, at the Bee Hive Grange Hall, 4511 Squilchuck Road.
The primary purpose of this road improvement project is to rehabilitate Wenatchee Heights Road from Squilchuck Road to milepost 1.32. Rehabilitation will be done using a technique called full-depth reclamation, or FDR. FDR is a technique in which the fully flexible pavement section and a portion of the underlying materials are uniformly crushed, pulverized and blended with cement. Then a mat of asphalt will be placed on top. The project also will replace deficient guardrail, upgrade existing shoulders, improve drainage and institute other safety improvements.
Design is underway. During construction, which will take about 60 working days, motorists will encounter one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic; minor traffic delays are expected.
The $2.5 million project will be paid for with county dollars and money from the Rural Arterial Program.
A Spanish interpretor will be available at the open house, which is a drop-in event. Chelan County Public Works will be attending to answer questions. If you cannot make the open house, email your questions or comments to public.works@co.chelan.wa.us.
