2025 was a busy year for the Chelan County Sheriff's Office. The Decker case broke the community's heart and involved weeks of intense searching for the murderer. Chelan County had two of the largest wildfires in the state last summer. Then we ended the year with a damaging flood and windstorm in the upper portion of the county. But 2025 also had some high points, including that crime rates and overdose deaths were down, the department is fully staffed and we have some new monies coming our way for much-needed equipment! At an April 23 community meeting, Chelan County Natural Resources is seeking public comments on its existing voluntary boat inspection program at Lake Chelan and how you feel about potentially transitioning the program to mandatory inspections.

Chelan County Natural Resources is restarting its voluntary boat inspection program on April 16 at Lake Chelan with additional inspection days planned for the 2026 boating season.
Chelan County Assessor Wes Cornelius invites property owners and all interested citizens to attend a community meetings scheduled throughout the county this spring. The first meeting is March 26 at the Entiat Grange Hall.
