A Note from Sheriff Brian Burnett
Valid concerns about terrorism on a local level and what that means for the citizens of Chelan County are on my mind daily, and I’m certain on yours as well. I wonder what the future holds for us as individuals, our friends and loved ones, and our communities. In watching the most recent events in Paris and around the world I felt the need to reach out to the citizens and visitors of Chelan County.
There is obviously no magic crystal ball giving us the ability to see what the future holds, but I would like to reassure you that your Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to partner with local, state and federal agencies to most efficiently monitor potential threats on a local, regional, state and national level.
My principal desire as your Chelan County Sheriff is that you may work, live and recreate in Chelan County in peace, without fear of harm coming to you or your family. Although we have many resources both locally and regionally, my opinion is that you, our citizens, are one of our best. You are the eyes and ears of normal behavior in and around your homes and work places. Please be vigilant, and diligently report anything out of the ordinary to the proper authorities and allow the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office to investigate on your behalf. There are many evils to fear in the world today, whether it be an extremist group, a lone activist, or any other individual bent on terrorism. We recognize the importance of citizen involvement, and appreciate all you do to make Chelan County a wonderful place to live, work and raise your families.
If you see something, say something. Call 911 if you need to report suspicious activity or if you’d like to remain anonymous you can utilize, for non-emergency type activity, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office “Submit-A-Tip” option online or from your smartphone.
Wishing you and yours a safe and Happy Thanksgiving Holiday,
Sheriff Brian Burnett
