Construction Projects

CRP 641, West Monitor Bridge Rehabilitation

Project Description:The West Monitor Bridge project rehabilitates an existing one-lane Pratt truss bridge over the Wenatchee River.

Signals will be installed at both ends to minimize traffic conflicts. The West Monitor Bridge appearance will remain generally the same as seen today.

There will be a one month delay in the originally planned advertisement date and construction start date for the closure of the bridge. Construction is now planned to begin in June. This delay will allow for final completion of several design and environmental elements and accommodation of orchardists’ spring activities.

There will be a detour during the work on West Monitor Bridge. Maps will be provided for non-motorized users.

These maps will be located at each end of the detour and on the County’s website for you convenience.

The proposed color of the bridge is green, as this was one of the original colors of the bridge. At the public meeting for this project in February, there was an interest to restore the bridge to green. Signage will be installed on the vehicle detour route to alert drivers to the presence of agricultural and bicycle traffic along the route.

The bridge will be closed and out to all traffic between June 2010 and late January 2011.

CRP612, Eagle Creek Rd, Leavenworth , WA (Construction in 2010)

Project Description: This project will include road widening, re-grading, realignment, drainage and safety improvements. The project extends from Chumstick Highway to approximate Eagle Creek Road milepost 3.3.

In late November 2009, Chelan County Public Works was contacted by the County Road Administration Board (CRAB), informing the County of a delay in Rural Arterial Program (RAP) funding.
This delay is based on current budget deficits in the CRAB program. As the RAP dollars are the significant portion of the funding for this road improvement project, the delay will push back the construction date from Spring 2010 to Spring 2011.
To date, the County has acquired approximately 95% of the right-of-way required and over half of the Temporary Construction Easements required.
The design has undergone a great deal of review to reduce the impact on the area and retain the rural character. The input of residents and the CAC influenced the project significantly. The design has continued to honor residents’ desire to not increase the speed limit and minimize the impact on the natural setting.
The design now maintains many of the horizontal curves, vertical crests and sags in an effort to sustain the unique characteristics of the roadway.

Design

CRP597, Old Blewett Bridge No. 1

Chelan County Bridge No. 324 crosses Peshastin Creek and is located in Section 13, T22N, R 17 EWM on the Old Blewett Highway , approximately 0.10 mile west of SR97. This intersection is 12.55 miles south of the intersection with Highway 2 and 8.76 miles north of the summit of Blewett Pass at approximate SR 97 MP 172.

**Construction will begin in Spring 2011.
