Water Quality Subcommittee

A great deal of water quality research has been completed by the Chelan County Conservation District and is compiled in the Wenatchee River Watershed Action Plan. This plan will be expanded as needed an incorporated into the water quality component.

1. Examine the degree to which legally established water quality standards are being met in the watershed based on existing federal, state, and local studies.

Prepare a list of studies, plans, and assessments already completed in the watershed.
- Identify data gaps within existing information.
- Determine currency of information.
- Update if needed.
Review Clean Water Act Section 303 (d) listings (water quality standards exceedances).
Examine methodology used for 303 (d) listings.
Research Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) process for watershed.

2. Examine the causes of water quality violations in the management area based on existing federal, state, and other local agency studies.

Identify and examine point-source pollution.
Account for seasonal stream flow or level variations, natural events, and pollution independent of human activities.
