Finding Someone Qualified to Perform the Ceremony
Once the license becomes valid, it is up to you to find someone to perform the ceremony inside the State of Washington within 60 days.
Persons qualified to perform a marriage ceremony:
- Ordained ministers and judges are among those granted authority to perform the marriage ceremony. Ministers can be found by doing an internet or telephone book search using keywords such as "marriage" and "wedding". Some will perform non-denominational ceremonies.
- Judges in both the Chelan County District Court and Chelan County Superior Court perform marriage ceremonies by appointment, though their availability is constrained by their court schedules. Please contact those offices for information regarding fees and availability.
Note to Officiants: There is no requirement for officiants to register at either the state or county level.
